NAMI Peer to Peer

NAMI Peer to Peer

NAMI Peer to Peer Mentor Training Video with Audio

This is the final result of the First video I made and it now has instrumental music and edited transitions, making it a pleasant video to view.
NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness and this is photographs taken from a NAMI Peer to Peer Mentor Training that was held in September 2012 of this year in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
I met some of the most loving, caring and wonderful people at this training and I am eager to work with them.
I hope this video enlightens you on just how dedicated we all are in our desire to reach out to others in the fight against mental health stigma, and in being there for each other, and simply educating one another.

Of course NAMI is about much more
and you can learn more about NAMI at:

Photos of the Aftermath of Hurricane Isaac in my area

I took these photos as I was a passenger in a vehicle.

I used a Nikon D3100.

We went from Denham Springs, around through the scenic route to "Fred's" by the water, drove and crossed the Sunshine Bridge, then went through Bayou Corn where there is a sink hole with bubbling water which is a concern of the residence there.

After that we went to Pierre Port and checked on the house boat and visited with some of the residence.
The fish are going to die they say and that is a sad reality but happens often with a storm such as Hurricane Isaac.

Also in Pierre Port where the house boats are locate there is an artist that I call "Mr. Adams", he has a museum of his driftwood visionary pieces of art.
Mr. Adams is a happy man, nearly always with a smile and a courteous disposition. We stopped to visit with him.

Off then we went through Placuemine, Louisiana where the levi breached and shows signs of the damage to all the sugar cane.

We drove through Baton Rouge,
went to Zachary to visit a friend
and Kay, my very close friend and the driver of the vehicle
then took me home where I live In Denham Springs.

All this time my camera was pointing out the windows!

That’s not all folks,
Mischelle

Flood waters, Hurricane Isaac,
Many homes have been flooded in Louisiana.

Flood waters, Hurricane Isaac,
Here is a garbage dump under water.

This resident saved their Baja VW Beatle,
but they're home has taken on water.

many businesses are under water. Here is a Statuary and if you notice I am taking photos out of the window of the vehicle. I'm in the passenger seat but took this one out the driver window.
Siding on mobile homes fly away or come off during most high wind storms
and it was no exception with Hurricane Isaac.

A business took on some wind damage

Mc Donald's still has water and people are still going to eat there

Business flooded

same here

here

and here

even this plant

Ruined Sugar Cane

This sign took a beating

tree falls on home or camp

flooding

more flooding

even more flooding

On a lighter note, Mr Adam's, the artist of driftwood creations
had planned well for the hurricane and had minimal damage to his museum pieces.
This piece is Noah's Ark.

A piece to scare you. At night on the Bayou, yeh, that thing might scare me.

He moved his "Honor of our troops and Veterans" Display
and securely fixed them so the storm wouldn't damage them.

This is "Mr Adams" the artist of driftwood creations.

Mr. Adam's is one of the most cheerful persons I have met.

Grave sites in the south that are above ground such as these will sometimes
come up and even float if there is heavy flooding.
This happened in a few grave sites during Hurricane Issac

More damaged Sugar Cane crops

Very common to see broken limbs after the storm.

I'm one of the fortunate ones: Hurricane Isaac

I'm one of the fortunate ones at the moment.

I live in Louisiana and Hurricane Isaac played
Havic on our place.
I've seen so many emotions from people,
from thankfulness to sometimes anger.
That is the truth to be said.
There are many helping hands
but not everyone has their electricity and cable
back on like I do.

Tomorrow, if weather permits at times
I plan on going out with my Nikon D3100.

That's not all folks!
